Once we mastered the pasta dough and making pasta sheets, we wanted to take it to the “next level” – stuffed pasta! And, we were fortunate to be joined by our friends Megan and Adam who brought their ravioli press so we could work twice as quickly.
We made some normal four-cheese ravioli, but I wanted to make this red wine pasta dough. Making the dough was easy – making it look red was not. Red wine does NOT look like the color pictured; it’s more of a purple color that turned the dough gray. Less appetizing, but still delicious for the kids.
Then, leave it to my husband to try
and take things to yet “another level.”
Time to make the “adult” ravioli – more specifically, a raviolo. Each large raviolo
was stuffed with a corn and cheese mixture
and topped with an egg yolk and basil. Lots
of delicate work that turned out delectable!
And not to rest on our laurels, we went even further and also made homemade arancini that night!
YUM!
