What a pig

Our tour of the South continued as we headed to state #46, Mississippi. But, first a pit stop in Memphis. And, what does one do in Memphis?

Having seen where Elvis died (but, to the kids' disappointment, we didn't see the actual bathroom where he died), we brought the Elvis tour full circle and visited his birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi.

We all enjoyed learning lots of new facts about Elvis (his mother was of Jewish descent?!) and checking off a new state (two for Peter and the kids since none of them had been to Tennessee before), but as was the case for much of the trip, food played a big role. In Memphis, we went to Restaurant Iris for their Sunday family meal. And, then we had lunch in Tupelo at the Neon Pig where meat was the star of the show.

While many folks make a pilgrimage to visit Graceland and other Elvis sites, I am most likely to make a return trip for more meals at the Neon Pig!
