A Weekend in the Country, Part 1

For almost as long as I have known Jeremy, I have also known Elsie & Andrew. And in all those years, they have been the architects of many of our fun adventures. From multiple Urban Challenge events (basically The Amazing Race but just one day each) to making art for our first condo together to homemade orecchiette, Elsie and Andrew have been amazing teachers and fun "partners in crime." Elsie even handmade our wedding invitations. So, when she heard about my 50x50, I wasn't surprised that she had multiple ideas.

Elsie, Andrew, and their girls visited us for Columbus Day Weekend in the Berkshires. On our first full day together, they helped guide me in making homemade Chinese dumplings. We made two kinds of fillings - one with pork and Napa cabbage, the other with pork and Chinese chives (that Elsie and Andrew brought from their garden - natch!).

We also made the dough, and then Elsie and I handmade the dumpling wrappers. Once we had the wrappers done, she and I stuffed and sealed them all (along with 50 store-bought wrappers to double our output).

Andrew was the master chef who boiled and pan-fried the dumplings which were then served with a homemade dipping sauce.

All total, we made about 110 dumplings.

And 4 kids and 4 adults ate them all in one sitting. Delicious!
